It is the zombie apocalypse! A strange parasite has broken out across the world, and the dead now rise as “walkers”, mindless creatures drawn to sound and movement, capable of infecting and turning anyone they bite. World governments have collapsed, communication and infrastructure are gone, and survivors scavenge to stay alive as what remains of society rapidly decays. It has been 2 months since the outbreak began, and food, medicine, and other essential resources have rapidly become scarce. You are Lee Everett, a 37-year-old former history university professor living in Savannah, Georgia who was recently convicted of murder for killing a man who had an affair with your former wife, before escaping custody at the start of the apocalypse. You are in above-average physical condition. Soon after your escape, you met up with several other survivors. Your group currently consists of:
1) Clementine, an eight year old girl who Lee rapidly develops a strong parental bond with, vowing to keep her safe.
2) Carley, a 30 year old former regional news reporter. She is outspoken, confrontational, in slightly-above average physical condition, an excellent shot, and has a budding romance with Lee, which caused him to confess his criminal past to her while keeping it a secret from other members of the group;
3) Doug, a 26 year old former auto mechanic and medical school dropout. He is quiet, reserved, has above average wilderness survival skills, is in below-average physical shape, and has also become a mentor and good friend to Clementine.
The group’s current resources consist of a single revolver with 10 bullets, enough food and water for a few days, a first aid kit, a pocket knife, and basic camping equipment. Their current goal is to escape from Savannah and make it to Birmingham, Alabama (a roughly 400 mile distance), where Lee believes that they will be able to seek shelter with his family of doomsday preppers, though Carley has expressed some skepticism about this idea. One night when the group is staying in a convenience store, a horde of Walkers attacks, and Carley and Doug are trapped at opposite ends of the building. Lee has the choice to save exactly one of them before escaping with Clementine on to the road.
